What books did you love growing up?
So many! Everything by Laura Ingalls Wilder and LM Montgomery and Judy Blume. I got to number 35 in the Babysitter’s Club Series before outgrowing them. I was a big fan of Sweet Valley High, too.
Who is your favorite author?
Do I have to pick just one? Right now I’m crushing on Jeffrey Eugenides, but I’m also a huge fan of Barbara Kingsolver, Russell Banks, and Ann Patchett.
What book genre of books do you adore?
I mostly read realistic fiction, although I do occasionally indulge in fantasy or sci-fi. I’m all caught up on Game of Thrones.
What book should everybody read at least once?
Number the Stars by Lois Lowry. It’s a young adult book, but it’s a beautiful portrayal of friendship in the midst of the crisis that was World War II, and everyone should read it.
Where do you get your inspiration from?
Everywhere. Honestly, I can’t even imagine writer’s block. I’m inspired by places I visit, people I meet even briefly, situations I hear about in the news. Inspiration is everywhere.
