Author Interview - Diana Bocco

at 3:15 AM

How did you come up with the title?

I dreamt it. I wish I had a magical formula for titles, but mine come from the most unusual of places: dreams, words/sentences from books I’m reading or movies I’m watching, billboards… Just anywhere.

Will you write others in this same genre?

I’m working on book two in the series and already have some ideas for book three (which will be the final one). I definitively know very well how Marcus and Isabelle’s story is going to end. And I have a clear idea of the major turning points and twists coming up. And since I love dystopian/post-apocalyptic fiction so much, I also have other ideas for books in those settings. Some will be romance, some horror.

Do you have to travel much concerning your book(s)?

I don’t have to, but I try to find excuses to do it anyway! I do get to travel for my nonfiction work sometimes.

Can we expect any more books from you in the future?

Oh, yes. I have a long list of book ideas begging to be written. Book two and three in the series are coming up. I also have a five-part new adult serial set to launch this year. And I also need to keep writing Alex and Laurie’s story (the characters in my Warlock’s Moon series). And there are a few truly dark books coming too. If only I could have more hours in the day…

Have you started another book yet?

I’m already working on book two in the Dark Tides series, which has a tentative release date of December 2013. And I’m writing part one of a five-part serial called The Never Moments. It’s a sexy new adult story that I’m having a lot of fun with.

Where do you see yourself in five years?

Can I dream big? In five years, I’ll have at least one title in the USA Today or the New York Times bestsellers list. And I’ll be living somewhere cold. I miss snow terribly so I’m looking forward to moving in the next year or so.

Are you reading any interesting books at the moment?

I’m reading book 3 in the Dollhouse trilogy. It’s a YA horror story. Highly recommended!

What contributes to making a writer successful?

Passion and persistence. The publishing world is a strange beast and it’s often hard to understand. Besides that, it’s just hard work. Sit down and write. Then write some more.
