Q. How often do I write and when?
A. I am a major procrastinator when it comes to creative writing, so I tend to shove it back to the end of the day. Evenings are quieter than daytime where I am. The phone is unlikely to ring, and I can relax, and just work. I have a notebook computer, so I am usually curled up on an armchair, in my office, or in the living room, a dog beside me. I like to sit by a window, so I can sort of be outside without actually being there.
Q. What color best represents my personality.
A. Tomato-red.
Q. How do I feel about Facebook/Twitter?
A. I am a recovering Anti-social Personality. Introvert/Cynic. Facebook is better for me than Twitter because you get more of a person there. Twitter feels like a running, non-stop advertisement. Talking heads. Not thrilled with it, but I am forcing myself to participate.
Q. What would I love to produce in my life?
A. Peace of mind.
Q. If you could study any subject at University, what would it be?
A. Psychology/Criminology The mind interests me. The criminal mind fascinates me.
Q. Every writer has their own idea of what a successful career looks like. What does it look like to me?
A. Financial security, a healthy reader base. The freedom to travel and research as I’d like.
Q. How did I develop my writing?
A. Repetition. I started at the bottom, with a high school education, but I approached writing with an eye toward improving. I read and analyzed, and wrote my first book 4 times. The 4th draft sold to Avon Books in 1990. As a matter of fact, the 5th draft of ROUGH AND TENDER (rewritten because I can’t publish something I don’t love) is available in digital form everywhere.
Q. If I could live anywhere in the world, where would that be?
A. The Myrtles Plantation, in Louisiana.
